26/11 attacks, Delhi Police, 26/11 handler

Police arrest suspected handler of 26/11 attacks at Delhi airport
New Delhi: Delhi Police claim to have made a major catch with the arrest of Indian Mujahideen member Syed Zabiuddin alias Zabi Ansari alias Riyasat Ali - allegedly one of the six handlers of the terrorists involved in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks of 2008.

Ansari was arrested from the Indira Gandhi International Airport, the police said. He had allegedly been on the run since 2006.

He has been remanded to police custody for 15 days.

The police said Ansari was in Pakistan when the Mumbai attacks took place on November 26, 2008. He is believed to be one of the plotters of the 26/11 attacks and was allegedly giving instructions to the terrorists.

The police also say that Ansari trained several attackers in Hindi and also did recce of Mumbai before the attacks.

Ansari, the police said, is also wanted in many other attack cases in India - like the Chinnaswamy Stadium attack in Bangalore in 2010 and several terror attacks in Gujarat. The police also said that Ansari was involved in the 2006 Mumbai local train bombings in which 180 people were killed.
