Tirupati: Newly-elected legislator B Karunakara Reddy (YSRCP) on Sunday began a "fast unto death" demanding that the temple town be declared as liquor-free zone.
Mr Reddy, former Chairman of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, which manages the Venkateswara Temple at Tirumala, said the state government, which had promised to take steps to protect the sanctity of the temple town, should impose prohibition without any delay.
